The Environmental Data & Governance Initiative (EDGI), which runs the Event Fund-supported Environmental Enforcement Watch, among other things, celebrated their fifth birthday earlier this month. EDGI has been exploring better ways of holding polluters as well as agencies accountable for environmental harm, from protecting the voices and input of scientists to documenting and analyzing agency capture by corporate interests. The initiative has been forging new models for making environmental data more available and useful for all communities, to enable more democratic relations between agencies, people, and lands.
The EDGI team and wider community celebrated via a virtual event that reflected on their accomplishments and plans for the near future. You can view the event recording and view the presentation slides here. If you’d like to stay in touch and support their work, you can sign up for their newsletter here, donate here, or sign-up to volunteer with them here. Happy birthday EDGI!
